Sale is a residential town in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford, four miles southwest of Manchester city centre. Sale Moor and Brooklands retain much of their Victorian and Edwardian housing. The population is around 55,000. Sale Sharks rugby union club is based at the nearby AJ Bell Stadium in Barton.
