Woodford Green is a suburban area in the London Borough of Redbridge, about 10 miles northeast of central London. The population of the wider Woodford area is around 25,000. The village green, a triangular space bordered by mature trees, gives the area its name and a leafy character unusual for London. Woodford Cricket Club, established in 1735, plays on the green and is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world. Epping Forest begins at the northern edge of Woodford Green, providing thousands of acres of ancient woodland for walking and riding. Winston Churchill was the Member of Parliament for Woodford from 1945 to 1964, and a statue of him stands at the junction of Broomhill Road and Woodford New Road.
The High Road has local shops, restaurants, and estate agents. Woodford station on the Central line provides Tube services to central London in about 30 minutes. South Woodford, a stop further south on the same line, also serves the area. The M11 runs along the eastern edge, and the North Circular (A406) is close to the south.
